This is from adding loft to your golf club at contact, this will hit shots too short and slice the golf ball. To lower your ball flight, you want to check some set up components and also some things during your golf swing to make sure that you are hitting the golf ball on the correct trajectory. Make sure that your club face and grip are correct. Some golfers I see do have a weak grip and this adds loft to the golf club at contact. Other things that can make you hit the golf ball too high is from the chicken wing. This makes the hands drop behind the club head by contact and add loft making shots go too high. Make sure you check some of these things the next time you practice. Some people add loft with too much weight going back when making contact with the golf ball.
