Ooh La La - Easy 3-Chord Song + Rhythm & Strumming Advice | Faces

Hey everybody! In today's lesson, I'm going to show you how to play "Ooh La La" by Faces. We're going to learn how to strum it using just three simple chord shapes. This could even be the very first song you ever learned to play! Now, I have a lot to say about strumming in this one, so, if you want to work on your rhythm and on making your strumming pattern sound like the song, that's exactly what we'll do! ► Ooh La La GUITAR TAB pdf is now published on Musicnotes (direct product links and FULL SONG PLAY-THROUGH are available on my Patreon page):   / 36870367   ► Need help with the basic chords and strumming? My beginner guitar course will help you build a solid foundation one step at a time: https://goodguitarist.com/beginner-gu... ► And don't forget to grab your copy of my free eBook: https://goodguitarist.com/learn-rhyth... ► Here's the Chord Switching Tutorial that I mention around 8:23 of this lesson:    • 3 Exercises To Fix Your Chord-Switchi...   TABLE OF CONTENTS 0:00 - INTRO 1:30 - CHORDS + TIPS 2:04 - SWITCHING PRACTICE 2:38 - RHYTHM + STRUMMING 7:44 - THE REST OF THE SONG 9:06 - PUTTING IT TOGETHER If you listen to the recording, you'll hear that it's pretty guitar-heavy. There are two prominent parts that sound great together, but it can get pretty complicated. We're just going to keep it simple and have some fun with it. We begin with the two chord shapes needed to play the majority of the song: D and Em7. We practice switching between them pivoting off our third finger, since it's in the same place on both chords. We practice switching using downstrokes only, and once we're comfortable with those two chords we move on to learn the strumming pattern. Rather than just show you the "exact" pattern that we would do, I'd rather show you how to capture the feeling of this song and work from there. We're still going to learn a strumming pattern, don't get me wrong, but more importantly we're going to learn which beats to accent and how to feel this - how to make your arm... dance, so that it sounds like the tune! This is an integral part of being a solid strummer and we'll help you build up a lot of confidence in this regard. Once we've taken a good look at the rhythm and strumming component of this tune. We put it together with those two chords, and that's the majority of the song. The only other part left is the instrumental bit. We're going to need to play the G chord, and the D chord here. They also share the exact same common finger. So, basically your third finger can stay down the entire time on this tune and act as an anchor point for your chord switching hand to help you tell where it is. Maybe you can even look away from the guitar and test yourself that way, that'll really help! Anyways we practice the switching, we work through it with the strumming pattern, and then we practice going between the two sections of the song, a couple times back and forth. Assembling this tune is really straightforward. I want you to listen for when it switches, you'll be able to tell things just sound different (also the words go away, you know, it's the instrumental part so it's not that hard to find it, haha). Enjoy this one, load up the original recording and strum along. I highly recommend you try that - it'll help you build up a solid foundation. Otherwise, have a fun time practicing and I'll see you next time! -James --- http://goodguitarist.com/ooh-la-la-fa...   / goodguitarist     / goodguitarist     / goodguitarist   #oohlala #faces #guitartutorial
