Will Pine-Sol work to clean a varnished and dirty carburetor?

I needed to clean this carburetor on the cheap. A product called Chem-Dip is a cleaning kit commonly used for this process but they are $30, quite toxic with the ability to eat through gloves, and some of the older stuff having terrible fumes. I didn't want to go this route so I figured I would go with Pine-Sol which is much less toxic, has a lovely smell, and is only $4. I read online that people were using Pine-Sol with decent results so I figure I would give it a try. Disclaimer Yes I did use aerosol cans of carb cleaner in conjunction with Pine-Sol. The carb cleaner did clean some of the parts to an extent but didn't really loosen up the sticky, caked on varnish. Soaking everything in the Pine-Sol did loosen up and make scrubbing the parts much easier. Also, yes I did use brushes and some steel wool to scrub the parts, which did help immensely. The steel wool did play a big part in getting this carb to shine up as well as it did but if you were to just use carb cleaner and steel wool I believe you would be using many cans of it at the cost of $5 or so per can, you can see where I'm going with this. -All in all I am pleased with how this process went. Some time and effort resulted in a very clean carburetor without the cost and toxicity of some other products. -If you like the video and this process be sure to like and subscribe!
