Fontaine OST Piano Arrangement - Aquabus Themes

My arrangement of the Aquabus themes from Genshin Impact. Fontaine's soundtrack has quickly become my favorite. While the previous regions' music tend to be more contemplative or solemn Fontaine's is filled with bold and expressive song. The land exploration themes are expansive and picturesque, while the city themes are joyous and exciting but also comforting. To me, the Aquabus themes are the perfect bridge between the two, being more evocative while still remaining light-hearted. Timestamps: 0:00 Cruising in the Balmy Breeze 1:59 Rippling Wavelet 3:40 Cerulean Tour Sheet music: https://drive.google.com/drive/folder... I am very happy with this video. Rippling Wavelet is the most experimental of my arrangements so far and represents the first time that I truly feel that an arrangement is in "my style". It opens with repeated notes mimicking the strums of the mandolin, which grow and recede like gentle wave(let)s. Then, the melody appears, layered on top of arpeggios which should be played evenly, without any individual note being emphasized, to create a effect like ripples on water. As it progresses, it mellows out and uses polyrhythm instead to create a similar effect despite the fewer notes. Both of the latter techniques I use a lot while aimlessly improvising, so it was exciting to put them to paper for the first time. The second half is a repetition of the first, but markedly more relaxed - the difference should be day and night, literally. I actually wanted to transition to a night scene in the game footage, but couldn't figure out a way to do it without breaking continuity. My arrangement of Cruising in the Balmy Breeze is less special, but still more dynamic and bold than my usual arrangements. The waltz-like left hand at 0:31 does not exist at all in the original, but it adds a liveliness to the melody that would not exist if I had tried to transcribe it literally. The left hand at 1:08, while following the same pattern throughout, has variation - in particular, I don't think I would have included the rolled chord at 1:14 in the past. The performance also is one of my favorites. In particular, I'm quite happy with how I layered the different voices. For example, the higher notes in the phrase at 0:22 have the noticeably different tone than the main melody, while at 0:40 the separation is achieved through crescendos on each phrase and slight gaps between each. Cerulean Tour is the most "average" out of the three. It's pretty much a 1-1 transcription, and while the melody is clearly voiced and phrased (hopefully), I am a bit lost as to what direction to take this piece. I suspect my shaping across phrases could be improved, but I'm not sure how exactly. That's it for the analysis. I hope you enjoyed it, because there's more on the way ;) Thanks for watching!
