Five WORST Things About Being an Au Pair | APOP

We don't want to put you off au pairing, so if you're not an au pair yet, maybe close your ears! But, if you are an au pair, you may find this video is exactly what you've been experiencing! We can moan sometimes, but overall it's a great job, right?? Our list of worst things about being an au pair include: 1. Your hours aren't fixed - made plans for 8pm? Nope. You may find you're more likely to arrive at 8am the next morning. Ha... ha... ha. We're not joking. 2. You're always waiting around for that message to bring you back to the family home - on the other side of town? Too bad, you need to head back home and you need to be there within the next 10 minutes. 3. Eating becomes more of a pain than ever before - every family is different with this, but you may find bare cupboards and nothing to eat is a regular occurrence. Children can be NASTY - make sure you can call your loved ones when you finish work as you might need someone to remind you that if you're going to be miserable, you may as well be in Paris. 5. Asking for money is a PAIN - we know these awkward encounters are necessary but we just don't want to deal.
