Soda Butte Creek is my personal fly fishing Mecca. It's where is caught my first fish fly fishing - a 16-inch gorgeous Cutthroat - and to me is the prettiest stream I've ever had the opportunity and pleasure to fish. It has it all; starts as a mountain stream, before transforming into open meadow wanders. Its one of the few streams where you can be interrupted by bison, wolves, grizz or a number of other larger animals. Terrestrials are great, and you can sling some truly monsters flies. This isn't my normal spot. But after feeling crowded and over-pressured lower down, I decided I might as well try higher up the drainage after lunch. I'm glad I did. even though I didn't get very much action here either, I was able to land a beautiful Cutty - and get some hilarious videos too. The fish smacked into the iPhone, twice, while I fished through a hailstorm chasing some of his cousins.
