Apex Legends is now available in the eShop for Nintendo Switch! EA's free to play battle royale launched in February 2019 for Xbox One, PS4, and Windows PCs, and now joins Fortnite on Nintendo's portable console. If you haven't played before, Apex drops you into a large map with 60 players, and you're in a squad of 3. There's currently a duos mode, but you can't play solo unless you choose the option to not fill the squad, leaving you outnumbered. Each character in the game has their own special abilities, setting it apart from Fortnite and COD Warzone where characters are entirely cosmetic. The Switch version currently includes 30 free battle pass tiers to catch up in Season 8. You can also buy the Champion Edition for $39.99, unlocking all the characters from previous seasons, along with exclusive skins and 1000 Apex Coins. The game has crossplay with PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but no cross progression. Sadly, your unlocked and purchased items won't carry over to this one, at least not at launch. The Pro Controller is a great option for this game, but is completely playable handheld. It also supports gyro controls. It runs at 30fps and 720p docked, 576p handheld. The framerate holds pretty steady, I didn't notice too many frame drops. Apex is a 25GB download from the eShop, I hope your SD card is ready!
