Mario Golf, the Nintendo 64 classic is finally on Nintendo Switch for subscribers of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Mario Golf was developed by Camelot in 1999, just a few years after they released Hot Shots Golf on the PS1. The popularity of Mario Golf paved the way for the many character-based golf games that hit consoles in the 2000s, such as Outlaw Golf. Mario Golf 64 has six golf courses and two mini-golf courses, each with 18 holes. The Nintendo Switch Online version adds online play as it does for all multiplayer games on the service. However, you can only play with others already on your friends list. There is no matchmaking for these games. How does it compare to other golf games on Switch? Although PGA Tour 2K21 is full of content and features, Mario Golf is much faster at getting you into a game, and the characters and courses are full of personality. There's also a button combo that will instantly unlock almost every character and course in the game: Down, Down, Left, Left, Left, Right, Right, Right, C-Down, C-Down, C-Left, C-Left, C-Left, C-Right, C-Right, C-Right With Mario Golf's decent number of characters, courses, and great golf mechanics that don’t feel dated, it’s definitely worth a download if you subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online.
