INCREDIBLE Indian FOOD TOUR - Kathi Rolls, Kebabs and Biryani | Kolkata, India

🧳 SAM:    / backpackingtraveltv   🎥 WATCH: Crispy Dosa    • Crispy SUPER DOSA + 9 Indian Dishes a...   👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE SHIRTS & MERCH: https://teespring.com/stores/davids-b... After I spent much of February of 2018 exploring the beautiful country of India and experiencing its gorgeous sites and incredible food, I knew I had to go back and see more. Ten months later in November, I got to do just that and spent nearly three weeks enjoying the sights, sounds, and tastes of seven new Indian cities with my travel buddy Sam from Samuel & Audrey. Follow Anirban on Instagram:   / im_anirban   Day three in Kolkata continued as our new friend Anirban took us around the city to try an assortment of outstanding Indian dishes. Come join us as we continue to eat our way through Kolkata! We started off with a dish called a Kathi Roll (55 rupees), which is a burrito-like dish that consists of a fried, eggy paratha that is wrapped around kebabs (other fillings are also available). The kind I got contained mutton, onion, and chilies. The paratha was crispy, with egg throughout and super tender mutton. It was out of this world, and was like a large, Indian egg roll! Next, we set out to try some of Kolkata’s famous sweets at K.C. Das, a sweet shop that has been open since 1866! Our first dish was a decadent pastry that was very sugary and cheesy and reminded me of a Cuban pastelito. After that was another that contained cottage cheese and chocolate. It was unbelievable! We followed that with jamun, a delicious, creamy and doughy ball that’s drenched in a sugary syrup. Next, we had Rossogolla, one of the shop’s signature sweets, which is a spongy, cottage cheese ball soaked in syrup, followed by sweet curd, which had the consistency of flan and had a hard top layer that was kind of like crème brûlée, except it wasn’t caramelized. Our next stop was Prinsep Ghat, a beautiful ghat that was built by the British Raj along the banks of the Hooghly River. It contains 36 pillars and a Palladian porch and has a very British feel to it. From there, we took a short walk to the Hooghly River, where we also saw the First and Second Hooghly Bridges. Our final visit was to Arsalan Restaurant, where we started off with fish kebabs, which contained lots of spices but weren’t spicy. They were so good that they had my mouth watering! Next was an outstanding mutton kebab that was smoky, tender, spicy, and buttery and had tons of different complimentary flavors. It was easily the best kebab I’ve ever had in my life! The next dish we went with was Arsalan’s signature chicken and cheese kebab, which was bursting with intense flavors from the coal and spices it was cooked with. It blew my mind! Then, we went with the famous Kolkata Biryani, which I was told is very different from other types of biryani. It contained mutton, potatoes, two different rices, and a boiled egg. It was mild, but incredibly flavorful. The goat meat was so juicy and tender that it rivaled the goat I had in Greece, and the biryani itself was right up there with the ones I had in Hyderabad! And with a bill that only came to 1445 rupees, or $20.31, our meal at Arsalan was a delicious and inexpensive way to end our food tour!
