What was described by many as the narrow gauge event of the year; the Ffestiniog Railway's "Hunslet 125" event starred no less than 19 Hunslet locomotives in attendance. The majority of the action taking place within the confines of Minffordd yard, as well as shuttles to Minffordd station, gravity trains, triple-headed trains to Bedgellert and much more. With an increased train service to cope with demand, there were no less than 25 locomotives in steam over the 3-day event, and beautiful summer weather to go with it. Given the enormous scale of the event, it is perhaps amazing that almost every requested locomotive could attend, the only exception being the planned first public appearance of W.D. 4-6-0 No.305. This was due to the restoration taking longer than anticipated, and had to pull out a week or so before. There was a surprise appearance of Chinese C2 0-8-0 No.4, it's fully re-gauged frames and tender underframe being shunted to Minffordd the night before. The group have completed all of the technical and difficult elements of the re-gaugeing, but still require £50K to complete the boiler and cab. All-in-all, a wonderful event over the 3 days, and one that will prove hard to beat in future.
