Calif Beach Detecting - A Scary Find with my Manticore -&- Bonus Beach Bunny

I'm in Ventura with my Minelab Manticore to detect the north side of the pier. I immediately found a scary item under the kids' swings. I'd left my phone in the car. So, I had to walk all the way back to get it. On the return I was sidelined by a bike rider with lots of metal detecting questions. When I got back to the swings a family arrived just behind me. The parents gave me the evil eye. In order to avoid a problem (with said scary item still in my possession) I went into the water to detect. By this time the breeze had picked up and the overcast was entirely cleared. I was glad to be wearing SPF 100 sunscreen. Targets were dug. But it was tiring. Also, my phone-in-pocket isn't waterproof. So, it was back to the dry sand and then under the pier to the south side. The usual clad coins were found. Odds & ends weren't as plentiful as on previous visits. But I enjoyed the ocean breeze and had a great time. I again drove to the next parking lot, looked for & found a beach bunny - included just before the wrap up.
