CAP at Home Chill with Art: Cardboard Mixed Media Process Collage with Ms. Allie

Materials: Cardboard (large and small pieces), acrylic/ tempera paint, paint brushes, coloring materials, scissors, glue, collage materials such as beads/ buttons, yarn/ wire/ ribbon, craft sticks, stickers, pipe cleaners, scrap fabric/ paper, etc. Instructions: 1, Collect cardboard scraps. Find a large piece of cardboard and cut it down to desired base size. 2. Paint base and other cardboard scraps. Place paint right on cardboard and mix/ layer desired colors. 3. Let the paint dry. 4. Use your materials such as crayons, markers, oil pastels, paint sticks, etc. to draw on top of your cardboard. Make scribbles, shapes and lines, etc. 5. Layer your cardboard to create an interesting composition. Move the pieces around, some on top, some below, change directions and so on until you like the placement. Then use small scraps to glue pieces down to give your layers some dimension/ height. 6. Use other materials to create more layers and textures. This may include tissue paper, scrap paper, beads, newspaper, magazine scraps, more paint or drawing materials, etc. 7. Then for your final layer, wrap, tie, glue, twist materials to your board so that things stick up and out! This might be bent paper, twisted pipe cleaners, wrapped yarn/ wire, etc. 8. Punch a hole in the top and run string/ yarn through it to hang it up! *Join us for more LIVE CAP at Home art every Monday through Thursday projects here at 4pm (or on Instagram and YouTube)! *Email us pictures of your project (or any other CAP at Home project) to [email protected] or post a picture in the comments of this video with your name and age for a chance to be featured on our social media pages! #CAP #CAPDetroit #CAPatHome #Detroit #CCSCAPDetroit #CCS #facebooklive #livearttutorials #artactivities #artistorganization #nonprofit #communityarts #communityartspartnerships #ccsdetroit #artathome #youthartists #artforeveryone #youtube #facebook #videos #tutorials #afterschool #todaysartproject #sponsors #CommunityEducationCoalition #GOALDetroit #generalmotors
