Dry Baking a Muffin on the Cheap with 1 Esbit cube

Dry baking muffins and bread while backpacking can be easy and inexpensive. After being out in the woods for a couple days a home cooked meal can really lifts your spirits. In this "How To" video I show how you can easily bake a muffin with just some rocks, tin foil and a pot with a lid. You might also want to bring a good stove too. I used Esbit fuel and a cook kit I put together to burn it more efficiently to show that even 1 cube of Esbit fuel can bake a large muffin in as little as 15 minutes with the proper set up. I also show my cook kit and why it works so efficiently with one Esbit cube. To keep things interesting I lit the Esbit cube using my knife and ferrocerium rod and a cotton ball and hand sanitizer...just for fun. My cook kit is relatively inexpensive: - Esbit fuel cubes - usually can get a pack of 12 for $7 on Amazon - the cook pot was about $5 at Wal-Mart - the windscreen was aluminum sheeting from Ace Hardware with air holes drilled in the bottom - the Esbit Titanium Folding Stove was $10 on Amazon - the pot lid was a side cut lid from a fruit can with heat tape used to make a handle - I used a small piece of aluminum on the ground to focus more heat up to the pot and prevent burning the ground - to make it even more efficient I used a "focus ring" that was recommended from Flat Cat Gear    • Focussing Ring for an Esbit Folding T...   the focus ring blocks more wind, holds in more heat and focuses the flame to the center of your pot Since I forgot olive oil and a tooth pick my muffin stuck to the bottom of my tinfoil muffin pan and I had to use a pine needle to test if my muffin was done. But, it still tasted GREAT! Thanks for watching guys and if you have any questions just drop me a comment or a PM. See you...on the trail.
