My old tripod have fallen apart and looking for a new I decided to try out the tripod setup Thomas Heaton is using and I find it to be genius. The main difference in Thomas Heaton's tripod setup is the head, which is a two way head. Using a two way head instead of a ball head creates interesting opportunities for landscape and nature photography. During my search for a new tripod I wanted something that was light, had enough height and was of a higher quality than my old tripod. With the head I wanted something that would help me evolve, if it didn't do anything different than my old head I might just as well have kept using the old head. At first my thoughts turned towards geared heads, which I was intrigued by because of Adam Gibbs. But when considering it further I had to disregard that idea because of the negative impact on weight and speed when working in the field. So my thought turned towards a two a two way head, like Thomas Heaton is using, with the idea of having independent control of each axis of movement. Thinking that it would giving me more control of camera movement when composing images and when creating panoramas or vertoramas.
