Throughout around half an hour at this location, this was the only type and class of train that was seen passing this location on a fairly busy line, and seeing this sort of proportion of older stock on a main line is a very rare sight nowadays. Trackside views are fairly decent at this level crossing on a skew angle, of course slightly hindered by the tension cables on the long barriers. All four wigwags / road traffic lights have brackets, and one of the four long barriers here has an extra bit of skirt underneath it due to the large gap between it and the pavement. The line is signalled, and the level crossing is operated, from the Wimbledon Area Signalling Centre, which also controls the South West Main Line and a few lines off of it all the way into London Waterloo. As you may notice, the lights glitched slightly in the first lowering just before the barriers raised. This lowering has also been left un-cut as the train arrived just 50 seconds after the crossing activated. Somewhere down the line in the next decade or so, this level crossing may be no more in thanks to the 'Crossrail 2' project, proposed to connect Surrey commuter towns such as Epsom and Shepperton in the south with New Southgate and Broxbourne in the north, right through the centre of London. Only time will tell how long it'll be before it progresses, though. Train details sourced from: Real Time Trains: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/sear...
