In fact there are instances where male armor can actually be cheaper because there is less demand and more supply in some cases. Generally speaking this is something that players really need to consider during the avatar creation process as you can not change your avatars gender later. If you're really into fashion and saving every penny you may want to go with a female avatar. For those of us who made our character long ago at least know we know why there are so many more female avatars in game than male.
