Solo Mountain Summer Wild Camp @ 3000ft on SCAFELL via Foxes Gully in the Hilleberg Akto.

After parking in the layby just before Hard Knott Pass, I make my way up the Great Moss Valley which is a beautiful hike with the most stunning scenery. The day is hot and getting hotter and I even have to apply the sun cream. An enjoyable scramble up Foxes Gully takes me to Foxes Tarn where I collect water before making my way onto Sca Fell Summit Englands second highest mountain, home for the night. The evening is warm with stunning views very different conditions to last time I was here. I awake the next morning by the hot sun shining through the tent and after a couple of coffees admiring the views I break camp and head back down via Slight Side summit. Again the weather is hot and exhausting in the early morning sun but I make the journey back to the car where I can't wait to get the air conditioning on and cool down. Fantastic hike and camp in one of the most beautiful part of the Lake District on the one of the best mountains. I will be returning for a winter camp later in the year for definite this is one of my favourite camps.
