Will the rear wheel slip? Where will the front go? Where can I put my boots in this rock garden? Are the footpegs clear? You have to be aware of exactly where your wheels and boots are placed. And where they will be after your next move. And you need to make sure your footpegs and engine cases don't get caught on rocks too during extreme enduro training. Now lets scale it back to stuff I am willing to ride. We are coming up to a rock face that is quite steep and with very little run up. My first ever time, I took the chicken track. I'm keen to try riding straight up it. This is Johnno uphead. Apparently he's only been riding for two years. And doing the technical riding only for the past year. He is doing ridiculously well for relatively little experience. My turn. It's always important to maximise your run up for steep faces like this. I get the bike back into the bushes as far as possible. Woohoo, made it. This angle gives you some idea of how steep it is. Man I feel clumsy through here. My boots just seem to get hung up on everything. Hello Mr Tree. There's another tough section coming up. Even getting to it is tricky. 15 year old Arch lines up for a try as he learns how to ride rocky terrain. He has seen the other bikes sliding out here and is determined to keep it on line for this hard enduro training. But no luck, it slides out but he recovers nicely. And finally Ben lines up for the same section. He does have a trick up his sleeve though for rock gardens. A few quick pointers for rock gardens. Most of the time you want to keep that rear wheel weighted. Sometimes it's better to sit, sometimes to stand. But be very conscious of keeping weight through your rear tyre and less through your legs when touching the ground.Occasionally there's a tree root or big stick in the mud and suddenly there's no traction and you go nowhere fast. Okay the next tough bit. The first time I chickened out and the guys pulled me through. The second time I gunned it but fell to the right. No way and I trying the next bit. A steep uphill, then jumping over a big log. Burnsy gives it a shot but doesn't have quite enough speed.
