We Hiked HORSETAIL FALLS TRAIL in the DESOLATION WILDERNESS via Pyramid Creek Loop Twin Bridges CA

4.9 miles and 27 stories, this was the first trail rated "hard" on the All Trails app we've attempted. We ended up hiking three trails by the end of the day; The Wilderness Boundary Trail, Pyramid Creek Trail and Horsetail Falls Trail (Eldorado National Forest, Twin Bridges, CA). We really enjoyed this hike! There were so many charming little waterfalls to admire and play in on the way up and the big waterfall at the end was a fabulous pay off. It required a little bit of scrambling and rock climbing to get there, but we think it was 100% worth it! The trail is listed as 4 miles out and back, so our side quests added about a mile to our journey. We could have easily done many more! Our beautiful day ended with a plunge in a private natural pool we found along the trail. It was a perfect, invigorating way to end a fabulous adventure. We would 100% recommend this trail to anyone who is interested in a challenging trail with magnificent sights, sounds, and smells, water access every step of the way, and endless possibilities for adventure.
