==================== Federated League of Basketball Association 1984 Playoffs Second Round Game 3 between the 1st seeded Utah Jazz and the 5th seeded San Diego Clippers - May 5, 1984 ==================== Game 3 Preview: Jazz (2-0) vs. Clippers (0-2) Game 2 started off rocky for the Clippers, though they fought back in the 3d quarter, the Jazz's sustained effort just proved to be too much for San Diego to contend with. Hampered due to injury—Lewis Brand, Thaddeus Beauchamp, and Flynn Blackman still playing with his hobbled hip—the Clippers are running out of options. They essentially ran a 7 man rotation, with Booker getting a measly 5 minutes in garbage time, which absolutely led to early fatigue. F-One Fiddy and Custard both were positively gassed before the 6 minute mark in the 3rd quarter, but they both stayed in. They gave good effort, but the grind of the postseason is starting to chip away at these already depleted Clippers. Meanwhile for the Jazz, Theodore Barber keeps lighting it up. He led the way for Utah, finishing with 26 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Though he only finished with 2 assists, he flashed some incredible dimes throughout the game, reminding everyone that they've gotta watch out for his playmaking as well. Howie Carney also continued his brilliance, finishing with 15 assists to go along with his 20 points. Utah looks like they'll run away with this series if they keep playing like this. With two formidable opponents on the other side of the Western bracket, the Jazz could benefit greatly from a less-than-eventful series against San Diego.
