Rusty Window Repair: • DIY Restoring, Repairing and Replacin... 👇🏼TOOLS, ACCESSORIES & RUST PROOFING PRODUCTS BELOW 👇🏼 Never in a million years did I think the roof of my car would come off but it did. If you own a classic car the first I recommend doing is what we had to do: ripp your roof off. I know this probably sounds crazy, complicated and unnecessary but it's none of the above. The fact is these old roofs were not rust proofed, moisture collects and your car essentially rusts away from the inside out. On top of this a lot of old cars had bad window seals and water will get in and ruin your day. If you are restoring your car you really don't want to do stuff twice so removing everything and fixing all the hidden rust will ensure your car lasts forever. At the same time this job really isn't that difficult it's just time consuming. I was extremely intimated of doing this but after completing this job I can tell you this was the best thing I could have done. Our 1972 Chevy Nova had bad leaks everything and that along with all the mouse damage forced us to remove our roof skin. What we founds was both shocking but fixable. In this video we explore how to remove the roof skin, treat all the trust, repair the inner structure and put a new roof on. Best part is I have never done this before so if I can do it anyone can! 👇🏼TOOLS & ACCESSORIES ON AMAZON👇🏼 Bosch Corded Grinder - https://amzn.to/48YzsGU Thin Cutt Off Discs 4 1/2 “- https://amzn.to/3HGBFdJ Flap Disc for Grinder - https://amzn.to/3UqUYPY Full Face Mask with Filter - https://amzn.to/3SCYVQn Face Mask Filters - https://amzn.to/4bjEtuX VEVOR SCT (Surface conditioning tool) paint stripper tool - https://amzn.to/3UjBZGP EASTWOOD SCT (Surface conditioning tool) paint stripper tool - https://amzn.to/3OpMQvb SCT Drum paint and rust remover - https://amzn.to/4bdY3c2 DeWalt Coordless Drill - https://amzn.to/3Sm4TDH Drill wire brush set - https://amzn.to/3UpvSRH Blair Spot weld cutter kit - https://amzn.to/48TpFS8 Air Hammer - https://amzn.to/47ZLkXE Chisel bit kit - https://amzn.to/3ub79pq Sledge Hammer - https://amzn.to/3OrlLYC Angle Air Die Grinder - https://amzn.to/4bjAHC6 Stripping Disc 2” - https://amzn.to/480Dahz Stripping Disc 3” - https://amzn.to/3SD04HG Air Belt Sander - https://amzn.to/49e74QI Sanding belts 1/2x18 - https://amzn.to/4bdrtXR Craftsman Random Orbit Sander - https://amzn.to/42mTIiQ Sand paper 120 grit for Random Orbital sander- https://amzn.to/3wb7N6I C-Clamps - https://amzn.to/3SBeM1L Tooliom 200M MIG Welder 3 in 1 - https://amzn.to/48RHaCx Tooliom Welding wire 10lbs spool - https://amzn.to/4833wzS 👇🏼 RUST PROOFING PRODUCTS ON AMAZON👇🏼 Ospho - https://amzn.to/3HBvS9q Scotch Brite Pad - https://amzn.to/3w3pIMD Weld-Through Primer- http://tinyurl.com/4keskbmh Eastwood Pre-Painting Prep - https://amzn.to/47UsOjl Epoxy Primer - https://amzn.to/49enatk Eastwood Chassis Black - https://amzn.to/3Ujn4fO Eastwood Internal Frame Coating - https://amzn.to/49axpyY Full Face Mask with Filter - https://amzn.to/3SCYVQn Face Mask Filters - https://amzn.to/4bjEtuX Eastwood Internal Frame Coating - https://amzn.to/49axpyY Chapters 00:00 Episode preview 01:45 Inspection of roof 03:00 Cutting roof skin off 03:43 Process of melting a lead joint 04:00 Tools and accessories 08:00 Removing spot welds 12:10 Removing the roof 13:07 Inspection of the roof skin and condition of window channels 17:13 Plan for roof restoration and installation 20:00 Stripping roof (?window channels) with various tools 23:40 Rust Proofing metal surface 29:00 Prepping roof for welding 34:10 Roof skin prep (paint and welding) 35:20 Structure: adding support to window channels 35:55 Adding 3-point seatbelt anchor 40:19 Burnout 41:50 Removing sails & rust proofing 43:00 Eye injury (add picture) 45:45 Adding roof back 46:41 Wife welding 51:50 Welding roof 54:50 Next: Window channel restoration To sponsor or contact us: [email protected] Disclaimer: Videos produced by SUBDIVISION AUTO are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only.
