Michael Jackson - Ghosts (80s Mix) [12" Version]

It feels like... the Ghost of Jealousy! 👻🧟 Here is the 12" extended version of my 80s version of "Ghosts" by Michael Jackson! 🏝✨ Do you think THIS is 'funky'? 😏🎶 A more smooth-subdued, yet still groovy-funky take on the title track of the song from the short film "Ghosts"! 🎥🔥 This one actually was made & done within a few days earlier this year (or in '1988'), with some help from a queen from Ibadan named Sade. 👑💎 It was fun, and it didn't need to be an intense one compared to... the other ones. 👁✊🏾💣💥 The 12" extended version is also available on this page! 💿 Hope you enjoy, you spooky folks! 😎🤘🏾 Stay tuned. 🖤 Get it while it's hot! 🔥 Seriously, I know some, if not most or all of these songs may get axed by "them" at any moment, so please use the download links well and share the music (album/songs) with your friends so that the Groove'n'Funk never truly goes away. It was unknown this version existed. Although fans are familiar with the original version from the “Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory In The Mix” remix album in 1997, as well as from the short film of the same name, it has been revealed that “Ghosts” (rumored to be original originally titled “Ghost of Jealousy”) was originally written as far back as 1984 during the Forever sessions, and recorded on and off in 1984-1988 at Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angelos as well as Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas - alongside singer Sade. It’s believed that this was made around the same time as the original version of “2 Bad” and various other tracks that were considered for the Ghosts short film. It’s unclear whether or not the vocals were ever completed for this version. The song is strongly believed to have been written during and after the success of the single/music video for “Thriller” and Michael feeling inspired to do dozens of spooky-genre songs, potentially for another ‘horror/scary’ short film before entering the 90s decade. During this brief time, he had written and recorded the original versions of “2 Bad”, “Is It Scary”, “Threatened”, and others which had meant to be included in the next short film and/or the soundtrack. Shortly after writing the song, he began working further on this version around the summer of 1984 with Joe Kehr, alongside Sade who was co-producing and co-writing the track with Michael. While the song runs over 5 minutes, the full-length version is an over 9 minute long extended version, with an unused Vincent Price rap from Thriller and more adlibs, drums and instrumentation from The Rag Tag Band. Out of all bandmates, Sarah Greim (aka Syradelic) was also brought into the studio first for guitar work, as well providing background vocals for the 12” version. Due to time constraints, the song was edited down to two versions, to potentially fit on a vinyl if they ever decided to put it on an album. While most of them liked this version, Michael wasn’t completely satisfied with it. While he loved Sade and her contributions, he felt it was possibly ’too calm’ for a spooky song compared to his past scary-themed work. Quincy later heard it and also liked it, but also agreed it was missing something. Ultimately, the song was shelved due to CBS records, Sade’s label, not allowing it to be released altogether. However, Michael and Sade kindly agreed to let her keep many of the elements of the song, which evolved into her song “Paradise” which was released later as a single in 1988 for her Stronger Than Pride album. Michael would later on revisit the song for the ‘Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory In The Mix’ remix album in 1994-1997, this one being produced by Michael himself and Teddy Riley. He eventually put it on the album, while this version remained unreleased. //// Don't funk with us, we will see you next week. 👁 ‼️ 'Cause we got hits like candy, so trick or treat. 🎃🎶 You thought we forgot?
