Suspect In Crown Vic Gets Destroyed By GSP Trooper

On 05/09/2022, I was patrolling Torch Hill Rd, when I observed a white and black Ford Crown Victoria with dark window tint. I made a U-turn and observed the Crown Victoria appear to be racing another vehicle. As I approached the vehicles from the rear, the driver made a quick turn into an abaonded parking lot. The vehicle was bearing Georgia plat RUN3840. The driver was identified as Mr. Kamontae Brown. After activating my emergency equipment, the vehicle quickly accelerated and fled in the abandoned parking lot, initiating a pursuit. I notified Troop D Communications that I was involved in a pursuit. The driver fled east on Torch Hill Rd and traveled through a red light at the intersection of Torch Hill Rd and Ft Benning Rd. The vehicle spun out and traveled into a strip center. The driver presented a prime opportunity to end the pursuit, so that the motoring public would not be at risk of receiving serious injuries from a prolonged pursuit. I placed by front push bumper on the vehicle’s right rear bumper and attempted a PIT. The PIT was unsuccessful, and the driver traveled at a high rate of speed in a parking lot with other vehicles. I attempted another PIT, but the PIT was unsuccessful. The driver traveled back onto Torch Hill Rd and made a right turn onto Ft Benning Rd. After turning on FT Benning Rd, the driver drove recklessly in the oncoming lane of travel with a blown-out tire. The driver increased speed and turned onto Victory Dr. The driver spun himself out, and I placed my front bumper on the driver side to prevent the driver from escaping. This was not effective, and the driver continued to flee. I conducted another PIT that was successful. I conducted a felony traffic stop and the driver was taken into custody without incident. The driver identified himself as Mr. Kamontae Brown DOB 10/26/1996. While walking Mr. Brown to my patrol car, I smelled the odor of marijuana on his person, and I observed that his eyes were glazed over. I read Mr. Brown Georgia Implied Consent Notice For Suspects Age 21 or Over. Mr. Brown agreed to the state administered blood test. CPL Nelms #926 worked the pursuit related crashes between my vehicle and Mr. Brown’s vehicle. Mr. Brown’s vehicle was released to Griffin & Griffin Towing. I transported Mr. Brown to Midtown Medical. At Midtown Medical, Mr. Brown was medically cleared for jail clearance and Mrs. Tecarai Ligon drew two vials of Mr. Brown’s blood for the state administered blood test. Mr. Brown was transported and released into the custody of Muscogee County Jail staff without incident.
