Hey y’all. My name is Sarah and I love talking about movies. So Eve’s Bayou (1997) is one of my all-time favorite films and a cult fave. A top tier independent, late 1990s, period, suspense, drama, supernatural movie. The story begins with the origins of our main characters, the Batiste family. The narrator, as she begins, identifies herself as Eve Batiste (Jurnee Smollett) sharing (or rather) confessing to the murder of her beloved father Louis (Samuel L. Jackson) the summer of her 10th year. As the sun sets, glasses are filled, music and laughter fills the air. A beautiful estate set deep on a bayou in Louisiana, is the setting for our introduction to the rich and glamorous Batiste family. Secrets, betrayal, lies and murderous plans hide behind their perfect smiles. By the end of summer, everyone is changed and the season will never be as carefree. The casting. The acting.
