This local delicacy has been a staple in Newfoundland kitchens for ages, and it’s more than just a slice of meat, it’s a way of life! They say every household had a block of bologna in the fridge, ready to fry up with eggs or slap on a sandwich. Whether you're having a scoff with friends or cooking up breakfast by the bay, you can always count on a bit of bologna to bring folks together! Long may your bologna sizzle! And of course, welcome to Newfoundland and Labrador, where we’ve got our own way of sayin’ things! Around here, folks don’t just talk, we yarn! If you’re looking to make friends, don’t be stunned as me arse about it, just grab a Raisin tea biscuit and share a laugh. We’ve got plenty of slang, like calling a sandwich a touton, and when things are going great, we say, Long may your big jib draw! Now, let’s dive into the recipe, b’y! Newfoundland Raisin Tea Biscuits Recipe: Ingredients: - 1 cup all-purpose flour - 2 tsp baking powder - 1/4 tsp salt - 2 tbsp sugar - 1/4 cup butter, cold and cut into pieces - 1/3 cup raisins - 1/3 cup milk (add more if needed) Instructions: 1. Mix Dry Ingredients:Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl. 2. Add Butter: Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. 3. Add Raisins: Stir in the raisins. 4. Combine with Milk: Gradually add milk until the dough forms. 5. Knead: Lightly knead the dough on a floured surface. 6. Shape and Cut: Roll out dough to about 1/2 inch thick, then cut into biscuits. 7. Prepare Dutch Oven: Preheat the Dutch oven with hot coals. 8. Bake: Place biscuits in the oven and cover. Cook under hot coals for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy your Newfoundland-style tea biscuits, me ducky! Thank You & Join the Community! Thank you all for watching!
