Eight Ways to Kettle Dye Yarn

Hello there! This video is brought to you by my backers at www.ko-fi.com/frostyarn  For the cost of a cup of coffee ($3) you can help make high quality dye education freely available to the public. Everything made in these videos is packaged up and sent to one lucky winner - this month there's 2 sets to give away, announced Friday June 14th at 7 p.m. PST . Buy me a cup of coffee and you'll be entered to win!  Dye used: Pro chem Hot pink, turquoise, brilliant violet  Dharma flourescent orange, flourescent lemon, spearmint breeze, bright aqua, xtreme blue, midnight Dye Stock Recipe: 1 Tablespoon dye 1 Tablespoon citric acid 2.5 cups near boiling water ** dyestock must be used within 1-2 days. Stock without citric acid can last up to 6 months (but it does start to separate and turn grainy or get a scum on the top depending on the composition of your tap water). Superfine merino, superwash and non superwash Here's a link to my Google drive folder with photos of the yarn/swatch/dyepot https://drive.google.com/folderview?i... The cost of this video: -$121 for yarn -2.5 hours to reskein all yarn twice & tag -$8 in dye, citric acid, butane -11 hours to set up, dye, film & break down for all techniques  -4 hours to photograph, edit, caption -8.4 hours of gauge swatch knitting -2.2 hours to edit the video footage and pix together I wish there was a budget for a professional videographer, professional editor, a real lighting rig, and rented studio space, but alas. It's just me and my cell phone. If I spent $2500 producing this video, I'd have to put a paywall in front of it, and people who can't afford to buy in would be left out. I appreciate each and every one of you that donates, because you're helping to pay the way for someone who can't otherwise join in on the fun.  When I started out in 2008, I was desperately poor and totally enthralled. I had to start with mill ends, kool aid & a microwave. It took me 5 full years of stumbling around in the dark before I had a handle on what I was doing. I'm trying to make the indie dyer market a friendlier, more open space for the next generation. It was highly proprietary, cliquey, and exclusive when I started. And so disheartening and lonely. Thanks for helping me make it a more inviting space.
