My Land Rover Discovery recently had a loss of power and was blowing a lot of black smoke. This is typical indications from these cars that there is a boost leak of some description. In this case it turned out to be a split in the top (intercooler to intake) boost hose. Fortunately the most common boost hose failure is also the easiest to find (it normally fails at the top bend) and is also very easy to replace. Even with filming I completed this job in 10 minutes or so. You can remove and replace from either the top or bottom Genuine Land Rover part number is PNH500025.
