Cape D'Or Lighthouse at Advocate Harbour - Exploring the Bay of Fundy!

Advocate Harbour Nova Scotia is the most underrated town in Nova Scotia. The Nova Scotia road trip continues with a must visit! This coastal community isn't large enough to be a town but you'll want to visit to see the "other side" of the Bay of Fundy - with a set of binoculars you can see Halls Harbour from Cape D'Or. The Lighthouse on Cape D'Or: There are four rooms each with their own washroom that share a common room. Rooms are $145 or there's a deal to rent the whole cottage if you are a group. The kitchen is fully stocked with a mini fridge, microwave, kettle, lots of plates, glasses and everything you'd need. There are loads of games, books and we played crib! And the biggest surprise was the restaurant. Darcy the owner is such a fantastic cook. I asked if he was previously (22 years ago) a chef, but no he was an environmental consultant. Three courses for $40 we had Caesar salad with prosciutto, salmon with roasted potatoes, and local beans with shallots that were AMAZING. Dessert was a tasty rhubarb strawberry crisp. Lunch is different and he's happy to serve kids easy meals (buttered pasta, grilled cheese). We stayed for breakfast the next day. I don't even like French toast but ate all of it! I would definitely be recommend going. I would absolutely go back. But beware that Darcy is a fantastic guy but isn't the fastest at returning emails or texts so don't take it personally, just follow up multiple times! I went toThe Lighthouse on Cape d'Or and Wild Caraway Restaurant and Café and while I didn't go sea kayaking or hike Cape Chignecto Provincial Park they are big draws to the region. My second night we stayed at Between the Capes B&B looking onto the beach, which offers one night stays. Hook and Anchor has outdoor seating and specializes in local seafood so I had to try the lobster roll and decided to switch things up with onion rings - so good. And apparently their burgers have become a fast favourite with locals. I went to Wild Caraway Restaurant and Café twice in one day! Yes it's true, I went for both lunch and dinner because they have different menus. And if I'm going to drive to Advocate Harbour I want to try as much as I can! The lunch menu you can order a la carte and the dinner is a set menu. Different approaches and I loved both of them! I've explained each of the dishes in the photos if you want to know what they are but here are some highlights. LUNCH: The seafood chowder is made with halibut stock and tons of fresh herbs. It's very different from other chowders I've had this year but without a doubt it is one of the best chowder's in Nova Scotia. I loved it. The lobster roll was good, but don't order fries with it because that salad stole the show! DINNER: I loved that while the food was modern there were lots of seasonal, local and also traditional Nova Scotian food touches. The first bites had smoked mackerel cream, the appetizer with green tomato chow and the main had hodgepodge. And I can't stop thinking about the palate cleanser, which was a primrose sorbet. I've never had primrose but it was WOW. The dining room is lovely and service is friendly and down to earth. You definitely need a reservation as it was packed but it is well worth it! I can see why so many people say it's one of the best restaurants in Nova Scotia. 00:00 Introduction 00:31 Hook and Anchor 01:41 Cape D'Or Lighthouse 08:15 Wild Caraway Lunch Menu 11:52 Advocate Harbour Beach 13:19 Wild Caraway Dinner Menu 18:00 Between the Capes B&B 19:06 Joggins Fossil Cliffs ------------------------------------------------ GET THE BEST FOOD + TRAVEL TIPS SUBSCRIBE: http://bit.ly/FoodTravelNews Like the music?
