The Thorn Full Loop Uncut (Findley State Park, Wellington, OH)

Word on the book of faces was that The Thorn was freshly blown off so I headed North to Findley State Park to hit one of my favorite trails to ride in the fall. I believe this is my first time riding the loop under an hour. Every year, the amazing crew that maintains the trail here adds new features and water management to make this flat course a fun, fast, and flowy ride with less and less mud every year. Findley typically needs a few good weeks to dry out after the winter and the fall is generally my favorite time to ride The Thorn. One note about the people on cruiser bikes: I generally don't say too much to people out on the trail, but I almost stopped here to tell them to turn back. Riding any trails without a helmet is a bad idea, particularly if you're on a cruiser bike. I'm not trying to be judgmental, I'm generally concerned that you might hurt yourself badly. Hopefully you'll come back though and ride again with proper safety equipment! It was really cool to see Tom out riding. He works with local youth through a mentorship program and he'll take these kids mountain biking to help them develop confidence and self control. He's an awesome dude and does great things!
