The Thorn MTB Trail Tour, Findley State Park, Wellington, Ohio

It's time to tackle one of our favorite trails just 25 minutes from Ashland up near Wellington, Ohio at Findley State Park. The Thorn is a 10 mile singletrack loop with lots of fun features packed into a generally flat area. The woods at the time of filming in mid-October was just starting to really pop with fall colors and the trail generally is pretty dry this time of the year. The Thorn is maintained by locals and is always changing slightly to improve drainage and flow. It is important to respect the trail closures when wet to prevent erosion. Expect a lot of roots and a nice amount of trail bonus features amid the steep downhill lines and relatively minimal amount of climbing. Tony from Ashland Bike Company rode this loop in just over an hour, and a full uncut loop will be uploaded soon for those of you that like using the videos on the trainer. His bike setup is a 2020 Specialized Stumpjumper Short Travel. It's decked out with some sweet components from SRAM, including the wonderful AXS Reverb Seatpost and XO1 shifty bits. Navigation is always done via Garmin, in this case, a Garmin Edge 1030+.
