==================== Federated League of Basketball Association 1984 Playoffs Conference Finals Game 2 between the 1st seeded Utah Jazz vs the 3rd seeded Los Angeles Lakers - May 16, 1984 ==================== GAME 2 Preview: Game 1 between the Utah Jazz and the Los Angeles Lakers was a tightly contested match which saw a handful of lead changes and some pretty evenly-fought sequences, but the Jazz held on to take the opening game of this Conference Finals series 113 - 108. The Lakers, as all pundits and fans alike assumed going into this matchup, relied nearly exclusively on the production of their two stars, Chucky Big Dong and Loose Cannon. Cannon finished with 45 and Big Dong finished with 31 points to go with his 17 rebounds. The only other Laker in double digits was Branko Granger, who squeaked in with 10 points. Contrast that with the Jazz, who saw 4 of their starters finish in double figures and 7 players finish with at least 2 assists. Cage led the way, but he was bolstered by Barber's 26, Carney's 19 and 9 assists, and Romero's 16, not to mention Armstrong's 7 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 assists. While the Lakers managed to take the lead a handful of times, they looked outclassed by the Jazz throughout the game and the final score reflects that.
