This Paramount newsreel story shows footage concerning President Harry S. Truman's visit to Germany for the Potsdam Conference, July-August 1945. This is reel 2 of 2. The segments show: – Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Mary Churchill visit Berlin. British victory parade in Berlin, July 21, 1945. – General Floyd Parks presents President Truman with first U.S. Flag (Flag of Liberation) to fly over Berlin. Truman receives bound Stars and Stripes from Sergeant Bob Elliott, editor. – Back at Potsdam, Ministers of State Vyacheslav Molotov, James Byrnes, and Anthony Eden meet to establish agenda. – Photo op of Big Three in the garden with Prime Minister Churchill, President Truman, and Generalissimo Joseph Stalin. – Big Three meeting in conference room, last one with Prime Minister Churchill, July 25, 1945. – Big 3 meet at British residence to say goodbye to Prime Minister Churchill before he left for the election in the UK. – President Truman attends chapel service, seeing his old friend, Colonel L. Curtis Tiernan, chief chaplain of the United States Forces in the European Theater. – President Truman visits former SHAPE HQ in Frankfurt. General Dwight Eisenhower included in reviewing troops. President Truman awards medals to four British officers, and reviews the troops. – Clement Attlee returns as the new British Prime Minister and delegate at Potsdam. The new Big Three meet in the Conference room and take a new photograph in the garden. – Top United Nations military leaders meet and make plans for ending the war in Japan. – The conference ends and President Truman leaves for the United States. He stops to visit King George VI aboard the HMS Renown, August 2, 1945. – The USS Augusta is homeward bound. A boxing match is held aboard for entertainment. – Portion of President Truman's announcement of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, from the USS Augusta, August 6, 1945.
