St John's in the Wilderness was founded in 1847, built with the graveyard on the opposite side of the road to the church. The church is currently under renovation to be converted into a house due to not being able to raise funds to fix the failing roof. one of the major graves we came across was that of Private William Henry Nuttall who died at the Gallipoli landings on the 31st August 1915 aged just 19.
