Angle, harpsichord, released 1977 by Afka records SK-276 Music arranged for harpsichord by Donald Angle The harpsichord used for this recording was made by William Dowd in the 18th Century French tradition. The instrument has three sets of strings - two tuned at 8' pitch and one at 4' pitch - and two keyboards which can be coupled. In general, the two 8' registers are used coupled. Cover Design - Addison Lee Backlirier Photo - Charlie Parker, Newport Daily News Donald Angle started out when he was twelve, playing piano and accordion for a country group which performed at church picnics, carnivals, fire-company dances, and did a regular show for the local radio station. Some years later he came to Boston to attend the (then) Berklee School of Music. In 1962, fed up with night-club playing, Angle took a "temporary" job with William . Dowd, the harpsichord maker. He has been there ever since. Thus he brings to harpsichord playing a highly unusual combination of skills and experience. In 1972, Angle's interest in performance began to revive. Since then, he has played concert engagements both in eastern United States and Paris, as well as playing a live broadcast for WGBH Radio and for numerous private occasions.
