The bells of Emmanuel, Compton Gifford, Plymouth, Devon.

This is raw, unedited footage of a full Devon call change striking piece of ringing, which includes the rise and fall of the bells. The Church of Emmanuel lies around 2 miles north of Plymouth City Centre, it settles between the area's of Compton, Mannamead and Hartley. The bells were all cast in 1904 by John Warner & Co of Cripplegate, London. They form a rather grand and gutsy old 8 and sound pretty good for Warner bells. The bells were actually due to be placed in the church of St Matthias, North Hill, about 1mile to the south, but due to the old now demolished hospital of Freedom Fields, the bells were moved to where they remain today. Although the bells go well, they can still pose a challenge, but I am always grateful for that, I have a soft spot for them and I always like ringing here. Tenor weigh's 19-3-14 in Eb. Enjoy.
