DESTINATION PATRIDA, 2024 | Highlights Day 9 (Ossa Larissa- Performance/Panigiri)

OSSA LARISSA HIGHLIGHTS Day 9 (Performance/Panigiri) After our first proper beach day at the seaside town of Neoi Poroi, we were honoured to participate in the 13th Annual Gathering of Ossians, 13⁰ ΑΝΤΑΜΩΜΑ , where the Μορφωτικος Συλλ.Οσσας celebrated 15 years since their formal establishment. The village of Ossa is located at the foothills of the Ossa (aka Kissavos) mountain. Mount Ossa is a mountain in the Larissa regional unit, in Thessaly. It is 1,978 metres (6,490 ft) high and is located between Pelion to the south and Olympus to the north, separated from the latter by the Valley of Tempi. Upon our arrival, our team was warmly welcomed by Τάσσος Χαδούλος, Γεώργιος Αγγελής, and other committee members, and introduced to musicians, entertainers, and other distinguished guests present. We were also humbled to meet and share the stage with two more dance groups- Ossa's own local group, and the Women's Dance Group of Kalochori. Upon conclusion of our dance performance, our entire team was acknowledged formally and gifted individual mementos, and our school's participation was recognised with 2 plaques, being from the village of Ossa, as well as the Municipality of Tempe/Tembi by Mayor Μανώλης Γεώργιος. Afterwards, it was yet another night of non-stop glendi- a traditional panigiri holding up until the early hours of the following morning, with the amazing clarinetist Giannis Danitsas , singers Χατζής Δημήτρης - τραγουδιστής , Kaly Papadia , and their live band! Firstly, we extend our appreciation to former student and family of Maria Hatzilada for the proposal and introduction to local dance instructor Μιχαλης Τσακνακης , who then extended the invitation and opportunity to participate in the event as part of our Greece Tour. We would also like to acknowledge our families, friends Themis Damtsis, Katerina Pitsari , local villagers, and our extended network also on holiday, who made the effort to visit Ossa for this event and support our team through their performance. Finally, we would like to thank Ιωαννα Χαδουλου and the wonderful members and volunteers of the Μορφωτικος Συλλ.Οσσας for their hospitality and philoxenia, together with the other participating organisations, instructors, and dancers who all welcomed us and made our team feel immensely appreciated and valued.
