The HPE DL360 Gen9 is an excellent server for medium to large scale businesses. In this video, we will discuss all things RAM as well as a general overview of the server itself. The DL360 G9 is a DDR4 based server supporting dual processors and 24 DIMM slots. You can upgrade to eight hard drives of internal storage and has options for external storage drive bays, optical drives and tape backups, which means that it can easily handle a multitude of data at enterprise level. Its chassis comes with four or eight bay options with or without a Universal Media Bay or DVD-ROM. The DL360 Gen9 boasts up to two processors within its family of Intel® E5-2600v3 or Intel® E5-2600v4 series. Each core is coupled with Intel Advanced Vector Extensions for x86 architecture, Intel Trusted Execution for secure boot and system security; and Intel AES New instructions for protecting network traffic and IT infrastructures data. The DL360 ’s optimized Intel Turbo Boost technology allows the processor to automatically run each processor core beyond marked frequency. For network connectivity, the DL360 G9 has four PCIe slots for PERC controllers, Audio, DDPE, 10G NIC, 1G NIC capabilities and trusted platform module (TPM) for added configuration data security. For maximum speed and bandwidth, the DL360 Gen9 can handle up to 3TB of load reduced memory, 768GB of registered memory. The DL360 Gen9 has 24 DIMMs total. There are 12 DIMM slots per processor and three DIMMs per memory channel. Sizes include 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB DDR4 memory modules. Technically only LRDIMMs can support 64GB and 128GB modules. Speeds include 2133MHz, 2400MHz, 2666MHz and 2933MHz. Note 2666 and 2933 will clock down to 2400MHz. For non-volatile dual in-line memory modules (NVDIMM), the DL360 G9 accepts a maximum of sixteen 8GB DIMM and can be mixed with registered dual in-line memory modules (RDIMM). The DL360 Gen9 includes some discreet memory protection features such as Advanced ECC for data correction of multibit errors within single dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) and, Online Spare which detects a rank that is degrading within memory and swaps to a spare rank.
