Tonberry the Ripper (Mega Tonberry) and Shady Duo (Black Elemental and Mushroom Cloud) are the most difficult enemies in the Grand Cup: Hard in the Fiend Arena. With this guide, you should be able to defeat them easily. Protean Gel (or Amorphous Gel) With Unerring Path and Champion Belt, Gel's Defense is High enough to survive Chef's Knife. Make sure to feed him one Minerva's Plate (one of the prices of Chocobo Cup) to increase Magic Defense! Thief is not the best dressphere, but greatly increases Agility. Make sure to teach him Darkness (1 x Regal Crown from Shiva) and Vigor (3x Turbo Ether). Curaga is also a useful spell. Darkness ignores Defense and Magic defense, so it can easily two-hit the Shady Duo. Vigor heals a lot of HP without MP. My Protean Gel was new to my party, so he didn't use Darkness much... make sure to use him in the battle a lot before entering the battles, so he has become more intelligent. Make sure he knows Ribbon (learned by getting hit by for example poison needle). Don a.k.a. Tonberry Unerring Path and Adamantite increase Defense and Magic defense, so he can survive Chef's Knife and Flare (or even Ultima). Thief's extra agility comes in handy because of Adamantite. Darkness and Vigor are a must on Tonberry as well. Hastega is also useful (5x Chocobo Wing). Make sure to micromanage your stars well. You can easily survive Chef's Knife on 2 or 3 stars. I could have used the stars more effectively, but I wanted to make this strategy as easy as possible. I hope you all can do this even better!
