Here’s Rose in the Heather, a wonderful old jig in D Major. I play this with fine flute player Hatao (Tomoaki Hatakeyama)… and then I play it in a set with last month’s “Behind the Bush in the Garden,” with wonderful fiddler Laura Fedderson. Both Hatao & Laura will participate in the VGS Retreat, November 12-13, 2021: https://shannonheatonmusic.com/vgsret... Both of these tunes are old gems. Behind the Bush… appears in O’Neill’s Music of Ireland [1850 Melodies, published in 1903], as tune #1114. And Rose… was old when James Morrison recorded it in 1929.
