Teeling Wonders of Wood Virgin Portuguese Oak - Is this LE Irish whiskey worth it?

Today we review another Irish whiskey from Teeling...their Wonders of Wood virgin Portuguese Oak!!! Teeling introduced the Wonders of Wood line in 2022 with their first release showcasing standard Teeling whiskey aged in Chinkapin White Oak cask. In 2023, they used virgin Portuguese Oak to finish their whiskey. This release was named #18 on the 2023 Whisky Advocate list! The wood has a dramatic impact on the normally more subtle notes that Irish whiskey has...it is good but does something really weird to that palate that we didn't care for. We are looking forward to revisiting this bottle in a few weeks to see if it opens up but for the price we would not recommend purchasing. Cheers!
