Lacan and Dreams 4: Where is the Other in Freud's Irma dream?

Lacan repeatedly highlights the theme of the dissolution of the ego in his Seminar II discussion of Freud's Irma dream. This is connected to another famous dream in the history of psychoanalysis where Lacan likewise discerns the emergence of 'the Medusa's head': the Wolfman's dream of the staring wolves. If desire rather than wish is crucial in Lacan's approach to dreams, and if desire is located at the level of the symbolic Other, then where is the Other in Freud's dream? We make reference to the triangular schema from Seminar XX so as to situate elements of Freud's dream, noting also crucial elements of historical/biographical contextualization (i.e. a passage in one of Freud's letters to Fleiss), and ask: is Lucifer an exemplary instance of the 'imaginarization of the real'?
