Dance Central 2 Battle "Fire Burning" (Hard) Choreographer Series!

The Dance Central 2 Choreographer Series with @RiffraffDC and @euthanasian sets the carpet on fire with a dance battle to "Fire Burning" on Hard for Dance Central 2 and Xbox 360 Kinect, choreographed by Frenchy Hernandez (@msfrenchkiss13). Summed Up: Frenchy's sassy, hard-hitting choreography is only barely revealed in this routine, but she's clearly got the skill and talent to produce really memorable dances. "Fire Burning" was probably not the best choice to open the discussion for Frenchy's choreography for Dance Central, primarily because she's done WAY more interesting routines for tracks like "Drop It Like It's Hot" and "Turnin' Me On". That said, this song is fun in its accessibility, but it features an excess of "mirrored" moves (basically choreo that is done to the right and then to the left), which ultimately means it can get boring very, very quickly. As a choreographer, Frenchy's work brings to mind words like sassy, strong, and cool, as contrasted with Marcos's choreography which tends to be more sexy and flirty. To this day both "Drop It Like It's Hot" and "Turnin' Me On" remain on my favorite routines list, and that's primarily because both display very clear themes in their choreography with little evidence of ever being watered or toned down for the sake of either the technology or the difficulty level. I tend to rate a DC choreographer's work based on how much their routines would appeal to me if I walked into a class after paying $15 at the door and learned the choreography there. Back when I was still going to classes, the results varied greatly. I found myself dropping classes I felt that featured repetitive, awkward, disjointed choreography that had nothing to do with the music--essentially the kind of moves you expect from a gym hip-hop aerobics class. The classes I did respond well to regularly featured routines that took cues from the song and had moves that flowed smoothly. I guess it can be said that any choreographer worth their salt can produce cohesive routines that flow well if they're allowed little to no restrictions, and Frenchy is undoubtedly one of those choreographers. I find that, when given free reign, she's able to produce great iconic work that sticks to your brain. "Fire Burning" only barely shows off what she can do, so once you get bored of this routine, go ahead and grab the "Turnin' Me On" DLC track and find out what Frenchy can REALLY pull off. Many thanks are due to @euthanasian and Harmonix Project Director @mattboch for starting the discussion which led to the eventual execution of these Dance Central Choreographer Series battles!
