In ciertain circumstances you will have a lean spot in the midrange which can be taken out (richened0 by either using a neelde with a shallower taper or by rainging the needle by use of a shim. I see a lot of guys just running a larger pilot jet, which only masks the problem, yeah it makes the bike run better but not really correctly. By using a larger pilot jet you end up with a bike that on he idel to 1/4 thorottle is dumping entirely too much fuel down the cylinders which will eventually dilute the engine oi and wash down the cylinde walls.
