Sorabji: In the Hothouse (Eric Xi Xin Liang)

Recorded on January 15th, 2021 at home. Learned and refined in approximately 5 hours. Unlike other existing recordings, I've slowed down my playing to the marked speed for good reason. With excessive speed, the piece ends up sounding jazzy which I don't think was Sorabji's intention. Another guard against the same concern is flattening my hands when playing some of the treble chords to mitigate sparkling of the chords by reducing the depression speed of the keys. I believe this has the effect of muffling the sound so it has the effect of sounding like in a heavy mist (like in a hothouse). On first listen to this piece, I found it hard to grasp the flow of the entire thing. Harmonically, I don't think it makes much sense, but as I listen more and more to it, the more I find that aspect to not even matter. The slow pacing really adds to the amazing atmosphere of the piece.
