The Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah.

I've probably played the Messiah (or at least this movement) every year since 1992. I may have missed a year or two in there, but we played it in orchestra at graduation every year in high school and of course I've done the whole thing at Christmas time almost every year since then. Bellevue Philharmonic, Tacoma Symphony, Seattle Symphony, various churches and a number of others that I have forgotten. The recording I have is not the same edition that I was using, so there is a spot where you hear timpani on the recording, without me. That wasn't a mistake. :) A lot of people just know "The Messiah" as a musical piece that is played every year at Christmas. The piece is about the actual Messiah, Jesus, whose birth we celebrate at Christmas, and is the Savior of the world who came into the world in order that He might pay the penalty for our sins so that we wouldn't have to. May this season be all about Jesus the Messiah, in spite of it being anything but a typical Christmas season.
