I was so frustrated when my Altima one day would not shift out of park. I started having to push down the shift lock every time button every time. Finally I opened up the console and discovered that the shift solenoid was not functioning. Many Nissan’s have this problem cause that part is crap. It’s like a $400-600 fix. Once I got in there, I was able to come up with my solution, cut the shift lock lever so I didn’t have to pay to put in a new crappy solenoid. Do this at your own risk because after you can shift without first pressing the brake.
