Lawn Pine Straw Needle Rake - Operation

Pine Straw Rake (Yard Tuff knock-off) Operation of pine needle/straw rake with mixed results Filmed 10/1/2023 Released 4/26/2024 I decided to try a pull behind lawn rake for my Ryobi, primarily to rake-up pine needles. I looked at the Yard Tuff rake, and then found a cheaper knock-off version on Ebay. I bought this rake in October of 2023. This video covers adding weight and the initial operation of the rake. I wasn’t really happy with the pine straw/needle raking with this rake. It does collect needles, but starts to lose them pretty quickly. It takes many short passes to make a decent pile, but you can’t drag a big pile anywhere. This rake does not have a tray to hold weight, such as concrete blocks. It really needs a tray to hold some mass well over the trailing edge of tines to be effective. As you’ll see, my yard is not very “flat”, especially in areas of heavier pine needle and resulting light grass. I did buy a sweeper this year and was pleasantly surprised at how well it picked up pine needles and pine cones. See my channel for the video. I have recently loaned my rake to Chuck.
