Ciao everybody. In advance of the usual dates, thanks to the commitment of the Isola Vicentina Rally Club, we have already been able to compete in this complicated 2021. A great organizational effort rewarded by a list of over 160 cars that bodes well for the rest of the season. The race takes place on a course of about 10 km with 10 hairpin bends, a very wide roadway and practically perfect asphalt. I was not sure of being able to participate but the desire to get back in the car was really great even if I had not been able to do any tests to get back in touch with my Reynard but also just make the trip to Veneto, go back up and down at dawn on the path to memorize the race, find my team in the paddock and then take a lap and see many friends of the drivers again was a good feeling after so many months of being closed in the office. Then the big news of having a new teammate in addition to Renzo or the young Swiss driver Robin Faustin with his Reynard updated by Renzo during the winter of 2021 with the aerodynamic kit developed in 2020. It was nice to be able to work together with a talented young man and full of that aggression and desire to do well trying to pass on my knowledge and my experience to help him in this debut with the modified car on a new path for both. Too bad for his high race time due to a "regulatory misunderstanding". In fact, he stopped and pulled over (you can see it towards the end of the video on the right) in the final stages when he saw two yellow flags waved by the marshals thinking that, as happens in Switzerland, the two yellow waved meant immediate and new stop. climb. Great disappointment after the race when I explained to him that, in Italy, only the red flag authorizes the driver to stop but he will have many opportunities to make up for it given his age and the great passion that is also fueled by his father Simon who accompanied him and that races in Switzerland with an Osella PA30. Too bad for the very harsh weather that on Saturday blew up the second test climb for the Sport and Formula cars because it started to snow but on Sunday a blue sky, even if in a winter climate, caused us accompanied for the race. As far as I'm concerned, I didn't have great expectations given the novelty of the course and the temperatures that made us think of a very slippery course. Instead, I must say that this Costo asphalt is really special because, even at temperatures close to zero and with a lot of salt on the road to melt the ice that formed during the night, it had a truly amazing grip. After the only test on Saturday, for the race, I had set my sights on setting a time of 4.20 and I got close but this only thanks to the car and my Mugen because at the driving level I saw myself even more "clumsy" than usually both in the braking and in the restarts not to mention the chicanes in which a good cyclist would have been faster than me ....
