(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay - Steve Cropper (1987)

Dock of the Bay was co-written by Otis Redding and Steve Cropper. Otis started writing the lyrics to the song in August 1967, while sitting on a rented houseboat at Waldo Point in Sausalito, California. The lyrics Otis had were - Sittin' in the morning sun I'll be sittin' when the evening comes Watching the ships roll in Then I watch them roll away again, yeah Steve then added the personal story about Otis - I left my home in Georgia Headed for the 'Frisco bay etc, etc. Otis Redding was to perish when his charter place crashed in Wisconsin in December 1967. This particular recording of Steve Cropper is from 1987 in Dublin.
