Using Clover to Build Soil and as a Cover Crop

We have been using clover to rehabilitate and build soil for years. What we've found to work best is a medium red clover first. Depending on the precipitation, we generally cut it 4-5 times per season to allow the clippings to mulch into the top layer of soil. In this particular area of our farm, we will roll out old rotted round bales of hay to smother the clover and prepare beds for spring planting. It's great to see an area that used to be like a parking lot now being used to grow veggies. Nature works! We did another video in our greenhouse that shows what the smothered clover looks like for a planting bed. Stay tuned.
